Pixel

A pixel, short for "picture element," is the smallest unit of a digital image or display that can be controlled or manipulated. Each pixel represents a single point in a raster image and contains color information, which allows it to display a part of an image. In digital screens, pixels are arranged in a grid format, with each pixel contributing to the overall picture by combining its color values with neighboring pixels. The resolution of a digital image is often defined by the number of pixels it contains, typically represented as width x height (e.g., 1920x1080). In addition to image quality, the size and density of pixels (measured in pixels per inch or PPI) significantly affect the sharpness and clarity of images on display devices such as computer monitors, televisions, and smartphones. Pixels are fundamental to various fields, including photography, computer graphics, and visual media, as they are the building blocks of digital imagery.
